Starting 27 December 2015 and continuing until late January 2016, the Fulton Hogan John Holland Joint Venture will be laying the Hunua4 watermain across the Green Lane West and Wheturangi Road intersection. During this time, Green Lane West will be reduced to one lane of traffic in both directions.
Traffic management and detours will be in place. Whilst the ASB Showground’s vehicle and pedestrian entrances and exits will not be directly impacted, halving of the traffic flow capacity at this intersection is likely to cause vehicle increased vehicle build up at peak times.
Hunua4 is a new watermain which is required to cater for population growth and to increase the security of the water supply to the Auckland region. It will run for 28 kilometres from Redoubt North Reservoir in Manukau Heights to Market Road in Epsom, connecting to the existing local water supply network along the way. Ultimately the Hunua 4 will extend through to the Khyber reservoirs in the central city.
While we hope work will have been completed by the 30th January 2016, please expect some delays along Green Lane West and plan your trip accordingly!
